What Are Rotorflush Duplex Self-cleaning Filters?
Rotorflush Duplex self-cleaning filters are small-capacity suction intake filters with a built-in self-cleaning mechanism that backwashes the filter mesh as your pump draws water. Unlike conventional Duplex in-line filters, which are installed within a pipework system, Rotorflush Duplex filters are installed directly in the water source and connected to the pump's suction pipe, helping to prevent the intake, pump and any connected equipment from blocking.
The RF100 Duplex features two filter heads, each with its own self-cleaning mechanism. With a combined capacity of up to 60 litres per minute, it is designed for applications requiring a greater flow rate than the single-headed RF100IND filter.
How Do Rotorflush Duplex Filters Work?
Rotorflush Duplex filters use the same self-cleaning mechanism as the rest of the RF100 range.
As the pump draws water through the filter mesh, the automatic backwash helps keep debris away from the screen, allowing you to filter dirty water as you pump.
A small flow of filtered water is taken from the pump outlet through a tee connection and directed back to the filter. This drives the internal cleaning rotors and jets, which continuously backwashes the filter mesh to push debris away from the filter screen, providing a reliable uninterrupted supply of filtered water to your pump.
With two filter heads working together, the RF100 Duplex provides a bigger filtration capacity while maintaining the same self-cleaning operation.
Rotorflush Duplex Filters are NOT In-line Filters
The term Duplex is commonly used to describe in-line filtration systems featuring two filter housings, often with valves that allow one filter to be isolated while the other remains in operation.
The Rotorflush RF100 Duplex is different. Rather than being installed within the pump pipework, it is a suction intake filter that sits directly in the water source. It connects to the suction pipe of a surface-mounted pump, filtering water as it is drawn into the system.
Its two filter heads provide additional filtration capacity, rather than operating as two interchangeable in-line filter housings.
What Are Rotorflush Duplex and Small Self-cleaning Filters Used For?
The RF100 Duplex is suitable for domestic, garden and light industrial applications where water needs to be filtered before pumping. Typical uses include:
